Movie Review - Aeon Flux

Aeon Flux is set 400 years in the future where most of mankind has been wiped out by disease, and the few that remain live in a walled city that is controlled by a bunch of scientists. The titular character is played by Charlize Theron and is a secret agent working for some underground movement called Monica.

The story is once again standard sci-fi stuff where Aeon is sent to kill the top scientist but can't do it due to memories that suddenly appear, and she then goes on an adventure that uncovers lots of secrets that could bring down society etc etc etc.....

What I liked about this film is that is was all done with style. Charlize Theron looks very sexy in her revealing matrix style outfit and she kicks ass when needed with great aplomb. The gadgets she employs are great, especially the little ballbearings she scatters about as she is breaking into the government building. Very useful and very cool. The special effects are also fantastic. The woman with the hands for feet was a bit creepy but well done and I've never seen better CGI grass. :-)

If you want to see a film that is a bit Matrix, a bit Fifth Element and an entertaining diversion for 90 minutes, this is the film for you. Don't expect anything that will change your world and you will not be disappointed, and compared to the shit that was Star Wars Episode 3 this film is close to Shakespeare.

:-)
